What Every Athlete Needs To Know About Volleyball Jerseys
When you’re playing to win, you need to know about volleyball jerseys
Volleyball jerseys are for the hardcore dedicated volleyball player. Not only do proper volleyball jerseys help you move around the court, they also provide protection from floor burns and other scrapes. While volleyball jerseys have changed over the years and vary from team to team, they are certainly important for every game.
Bump, set, shirt?
The biggest question when it comes to volleyball jerseys is whether or not to just use a shirt.
Most of the earlier volleyball jerseys were long sleeved shirts, designed to keep the arms from bruising from harder hits. But these only worked for some athletes.
Much of the time, the ball would bounce at odd angles off the sleeve.
To correct this problem, manufacturers took the sleeves off and made t-shirts for volleyball jerseys.
But this can also create problems, though they are often used in court volleyball.
Where the problem lies in these jerseys
What happens when a volleyball player moves is that any fabric in volleyball jerseys needs to move along with him or her. And since looser t-shirts don’t quite do this, there is a chance that movement can be hindered.
And that can mean the difference between digging the spike or missing it.
When a volleyball player is serving, they also need to be able to move their arm in a full range of motion, so volleyball jerseys are quite important.
Depends on the court
And while the t-shirts can work as volleyball jerseys in a court volleyball setting, less is certainly more in the beach volleyball play. When you’re diving into sand, you need to have as little as possible trapping you.
So no-sleeves is the best design for these kinds of volleyball jerseys.
You may even see players wearing bikini tops or no tops (for the male players, of course).
Volleyball jerseys need to accommodate the individual players as well as the style and location of the actual games.
