Baseball training used to consist of heading out to the field to throw the ball back and forth before the game. But now that baseball has become a sport, rather than a game, baseball training has become all important in the quest for victory. To get the most of your baseball training, you need to include three difference components.
Cardiovascular training
While you might not think that baseball training needs to include a lot of aerobics, think of it this way. Aerobics create stronger lungs that can hold more air. The more air you can hold, the less energy you have to use to get more air in.
This means that you can sustain longer periods of running from one side of the field to another.
For your baseball training, you’ll want to include daily cardio workouts.
Most experts recommend also including sprints and circuit training as well, but more on that kind of training in a moment.
Weight training
Next in your baseball training regimen is to include weight lifting of some kind.
Strong muscles can work harder for longer, so when done with cardio, you’re creating a lean baseball machine.
A lot of exercise experts are finding that lifting weights and then doing small spurts of cardio is an extremely efficient and strenuous baseball training workout. As mentioned before, it’s called circuit training.
You might run a fifty yard sprint and then do a few bicep curls, then repeat.
Flexibility
While most baseball training forgets about stretching, you should not.
Keeping your muscles loose and ready for action is the most important part of baseball training and injury prevention.
You won’t be as susceptible to muscles pulls and tears if you’re able to move with agility and grace. Yoga is just one of the more enjoyable ways to incorporate flexibility into your baseball training.
Baseball training can come a long way, but it’s well worth it to include all of these exercises into your program.
